Chapter 79 Southern Frontier Cursed Practices

.Yun Qianyue glanced at her and thought that the little girl was quite religious. She got up and walked towards the bedroom, waving dismissively at her. "It doesn't matter if I can't go; there's no ne...Chapter 79 Southern Frontier Curse Magic

Cloud Qianyue covered her injured arm and struggled to remain standing. She saw Rong Jing looking at her, so she shouted angrily, "What are you staring at Are you sick or something You didn't dodge your own weapon; why did you dodge for him"

Rong Jing opened his mouth but spoke in a hoarse voice, "You said to leave a live captive."

"He's just a big pile of **. Is he worth more than you What’s the point of interrogating him!" Cloud Qianyue was even angrier upon hearing this reason from him. She picked up an arrow with her uninjured hand and walked two steps to where she had kicked the dead assassin, then fiercely thrust the arrow into his neck, killing him instantly. Turning back toward Rong Jing, she said hatefully, "Now you want to save him You can save him if you truly have the ability."

Rong Jing was dumbstruck as he stared at Cloud Qianyue, seeming like a statue.

"If I lose my arm, then I’ll cut off yours and give it to me." Cloud Qianyue no longer looked at Rong Jing; she lowered her head to look at her injured arm. She felt excruciating pain that penetrated her bones. She was even angrier in her heart—anyone who said this man was smart was a fool.

Cloud Qianyue’s anger erupted fiercely, and she scolded Rong Jing mercilessly. Not only did Rong Jing freeze up, but the eighteen secret guards were also stunned by Cloud Qianyue’s rage and actions. Xuan Ge and Mo Li had just completed one cycle of energy cultivation to expel the poison from their bodies when they witnessed this scene; now they stared dumbfounded at Cloud Qianyue.

No one expected her to block an assassin for Rong Jing, nor did anyone expect that in a fit of rage she would kill the assassin without hesitation and disregard him as a crucial clue.

The street was deathly silent except for the scent of blood that lingered everywhere.

After scolding Rong Jing, Cloud Qianyue ignored him and looked down at her arm. Although this weapon had no poison, it was sharp and full of barbs; now she felt as if a thousand steel needles were piercing her bones, causing excruciating pain. She could not just pull the weapon out, because doing so would tear all her flesh with it, which would render her arm useless.

She glared angrily at Rong Jing once again and thought to herself that she didn’t have to endure this wound. Nothing was more important than one’s own body; without a healthy body, nothing could be accomplished. She had wanted to interrogate the assassin for information, but only if it did not require any sacrifice on her part. If something gained from putting oneself in danger wasn't worth risking life and limb, then she wouldn’t do it.

Rong Jing continued staring at Cloud Qianyue as if he had frozen; he didn’t move an inch.

Cloud Qianyue no longer paid attention to this man who appeared smart but was actually foolish. She looked in the direction from which the weapon came, toward a corner of a roof where there was now no one. Smirking inwardly, she thought that whoever attacked them must have believed that by eliminating her last live captive they had prevented any further interrogation.

"Mo Li, do you have a dagger" Cloud Qianyue decided to quickly remove the weapon so as not to delay treatment of her injury.

“I do!” Mo Li immediately stood up and passed his dagger over to Cloud Qianyue.

Cloud Qianyue took the dagger, rolled up her sleeve, and revealed her arm. Blood was already seeping out from where she had been hit by the weapon. Fortunately, it wasn’t in a critical location; she held onto the dagger firmly and prepared to cut into her flesh.

"Miss…" Mo Li shouted in alarm.

Xuan Ge and the eighteen secret guards widened their eyes at Cloud Qianyue’s actions.

Rong Jing also awoke from his stupor, quickly walking over and grabbing Cloud Qianyue's dagger.

"What are you doing Move!" Cloud Qianyue stopped when her hand was seized; she looked up to see Rong Jing’s face coldly.

Rong Jing had a slightly pale complexion, but his skin was naturally fair so it wasn’t too noticeable. He stared at Cloud Qianyue, his long eyelashes fluttering slightly as he spoke in a hoarse voice, "I’ll do it."

Cloud Qianyue looked at him skeptically and raised an eyebrow, “You can handle this”

Rong Jing nodded. "Sure!"

Cloud Qianyue handed the dagger to Rong Jing; he took it in his hand but did not move for a long time.

"Hurry up! You won’t see anything else even if you stare at it longer! If you can't do this, give it back." Cloud Qianyue urged him impatiently. She thought to herself that he was usually so heartless; how could he be afraid of such a small weapon

After Cloud Qianyue’s words, Rong Jing suddenly moved and firmly placed the dagger on the wound. Though his hand didn’t seem particularly powerful, it acted swiftly and precisely as the blade cut through flesh silently. He was skilled in removing the barbs around the weapon without causing unnecessary damage to her body.

Anyone could imagine how painful this would be, but Cloud Qianyue remained unflinching. She calmly observed Rong Jing’s movements; she admitted that if she had done it herself, she wouldn’t have been as skilled.

Xuan Ge and Mo Li stared wide-eyed, holding their breaths. Xuan Ge noticed his master’s tightly pursed lips and the fine beads of sweat on his forehead and wondered how anxious he was feeling. How long had it been since he saw such a solemn expression from his lord Meanwhile, Mo Li fixed his gaze on Cloud Qianyue; he hadn’t seen her look so resolute and cold for years—five or ten years ago perhaps. It was a long time ago indeed.

The Eighteen Secret Guards watched Yun Qianyue with admiration. Which woman could be calmly carved up without even flinching If there was a woman in the world who deserved their respect, it had to be Yun Qianyue at this moment.

After about the time it took for a cup of tea, Rong Jing finally removed the last sharp object. He reached into his chest and pulled out a porcelain bottle, opened it and sprinkled white powder-like substance on her wound before reaching back in to take out a handkerchief to wrap up her wound. After finishing all that, he seemed to have breathed a sigh of relief as he lifted his head to look at Yun Qianyue.

Yun Qianyue glanced at Rong Jing; seeing him pale and looking like the injured person was himself, she harrumphed but still didn’t hold back in her praise, "Good technique!"

Rong Jing looked at Yun Qianyue with a steady gaze.

Yun Qianyue glared at him, "What are you looking at Hurry and clean up the mess! What do you think should be done Should these people be sent to the Imperial Capital’s Government Office or brought before the old emperor, or thrown in a mass grave for dogs to feed on them, or dissected"

Rong Jing turned his gaze towards the scene. There were over a hundred corpses scattered on the quiet street, and even stepping was almost impossible with all the blood that flowed like a river. He looked away and instructed Xuan Ge, "Go get Wang Da Ren from the Imperial Capital Government Office and Li Da Ren of the Prefecture to handle this."

"Yes, Young Master!" Xuan Ge nodded, leapt up, and headed for the Imperial Capital Government Office.

Yun Qianyue had no objections. In broad daylight, such open assassination attempts on Rong Jing and her could not be quietly resolved without causing a commotion. Even if the Imperial Capital’s government office could not uncover anything, it still shouldn’t let those behind this attack get away.

"You can go down now!" Rong Jing instructed the Eighteen Secret Guards.

The Eighteen Secret Guards answered in unison and instantly disappeared from sight.

"Search these dead soldiers thoroughly. Don’t miss any clues," Rong Jing ordered Mo Li.

Mo Li glanced at Yun Qianyue, seeing that she had no objections, immediately crouched down to start examining the dead bodies one by one.

Yun Qianyue didn’t have much of an opinion; instead, she bent down and picked up a hidden weapon from the ground. She placed it in her hand and examined it carefully before looking at Rong Jing and asking, "Do you know what kind of hidden weapon this is Does it have any background"

"This is Qian Family’s unique hidden weapon: Three Leaf Fragrance," replied Rong Jing.

Yun Qianyue raised her eyebrows, “Qian Family The same Qian Family that houses the genius of the first rank in dark weapons, Qian Yan”

"Yes!" Rong Jing nodded with a serene gaze.

"There’s no mark from the Qian family on this weapon. How do you know for certain it belongs to them Could someone not be imitating their weapon and using it to frame them" Yun Qianyue thought that this domineering hidden weapon actually had a poetic name, Three Leaf Fragrance. She remembered when these weapons came silently and then broke out another weapon from the three-foot distance away from her and Rong Jing, indeed fitting the elegant title of ‘Three Leaf Fragrance’.

"Imitating Qian Family’s weapons, especially this Three Leaf Fragrance, is impossible for others," said Rong Jing.

"So you’re saying that the person who threw these hidden weapons might also be from the Qian family" Yun Qianyue played with the weapon in her hand and found it indeed ingenious; without special techniques, it would be difficult to imitate. She nodded and asked again.

“Perhaps!” Rong Jing gave an ambiguous answer.

"Isn’t the Qian family under your control How could such a thing happen I really overestimate your abilities," Yun Qianyue scolded.

Rong Jing blinked, "How do you know that the Qian Family is under my control"

"The last time at Lingtai Temple’s underground Buddha hall, we left traces to hide the Buddha statue. If Qian Yan is the new generation genius of the top dark weapons family in the world, how could he not notice such small traces Of course, it was concealed. Who could make him conceal them Isn’t it you" Yun Qianyue raised her eyebrows and looked at Rong Jing.

"Even if I control the Qian Family, I’m not omnipotent. How would I anticipate someone trying to kill me today" Rong Jing sighed.

“Even if this is a unique weapon of the Qian family, it’s unlikely that everyone can have one, right” Yun Qianyue pointed her hidden weapon towards the sun; in sunlight, the weapon emitted cold white light. She thought that fingerprinting could be used to find clues easily nowadays but here in ancient times it would be extremely troublesome.

"Yes, this type of weapon can only be used by direct descendants of the Qian Family’s lineage. And the technique used by whoever launched these weapons is also a family secret handed down from generation to generation; it's not passed on to collateral branches," Rong Jing nodded.

“But isn’t there a possibility that this family technique has been leaked out They might have obtained the weapon through other channels, and those who want to kill us may not necessarily be Qian Family members. Unless someone in the Qian Family is an idiot, they wouldn't use their own unique weapons and leave evidence for others to catch them,” Yun Qianyue pulled back her hand and said.

“Perhaps!” Rong Jing gave another ambiguous answer.

Yun Qianyue no longer cared about Rong Jing, and instead turned to ask Mo Li, "Have you found anything"

"Replying to Miss, there is absolutely no evidence! All these people have nothing on them. Moreover, they are using ordinary swords." Mo Li shook his head and stood up straight, secretly cursing the miss for impulsively killing their only living witness in a fit of rage. Now, there was not even a shred of evidence. However, he could not help but think that Miss looked very impressive when she had killed the man out of anger just now.

"If you can't find any evidence, I will," said Yun Qianyue as she bent down to pick up one of the swords from the ground and walked towards the nearest dead assassin, lifting the sword high and aiming at his belly.

Rong Jing was stunned by Yun Qianyue's actions and asked, "What are you doing"

"Gutting him open!" Yun Qianyue spat out four words.

Rong Jing was puzzled. "Why would you gut someone open"

"To see what he ate today What he drank Which region's water and soil his blood is composed of Where does he usually live, etc. There are many things to examine," Yun Qianyue said as she raised the sword and sliced straight through the dead assassin’s belly with precise movements.

Upon hearing this, Rong Jing turned his head to look over and just in time saw that person's belly being cut open and intestines, stomach contents, and undigested filth flowing out. He immediately turned around and vomited. However, since he hadn't eaten much the day before or today, all that came up was water.

"Look at your pitiful self!" Yun Qianyue looked back at Rong Jing with disdain as she curled her lips.

Rong Jing’s shoulders shook slightly but he remained silent.

Yun Qianyue stared intently at the man's belly. In front of her, instead of seeing intestines and stomach contents, were clues.

Rong Jing vomited for a while, turned around to take another look, and then threw up again for quite some time until nothing more came out, before he finally managed to say with difficulty, "Actually, there's no need to find anything out today. We'll eventually figure it out anyway. There's truly no reason for you to go through such trouble..."

To torment him like this!

"We deal with things on the day they happen and take the simplest methods possible," Yun Qianyue remained unmoved.

"There would be no need for trouble if you hadn't killed that living witness," Rong Jing said.

"You dare say that" Yun Qianyue’s anger flared up again as she turned to glower at Rong Jing. She saw his body tremble slightly and her temper flared even more, "Do you think you're so capable What if the projectile was poisonous You could die from it! Why would you still want to interrogate a living witness We should be planning your funeral right now."

"If that projectile were toxic, then why did you shield me" Rong Jing suddenly turned around and stared at Yun Qianyue.

"I was afraid the gold coins hidden by you would go to waste if you died. Do you think I really wanted to save your life" Yun Qianyue gave him a disdainful look, huffed, and said to Rong Jing, "From now on don't talk to me; I don't want to speak with you. Today, I am going to gut open all these people’s bellies until there's not one left, just to disgust you."

Looking at Yun Qianyue, a strange expression appeared on Rong Jing's face as he turned his head and remained silent.

Taking no notice of Rong Jing, Yun Qianyue stared intently at the man who had just been gutted open. She used her sword to poke around in his intestines and stomach contents for a while, her brows sometimes loosening and tightening as she did so.

After some time, it seemed that Yun Qianyue was done with her examination; she turned towards another dead assassin and repeated the same actions.

"You... you really do intend to gut open all these people" Rong Jing remained facing away from them, seemingly struggling not to vomit again.

"Do you think I'm joking" Yun Qianyue glanced back at him with a mocking smile and said, "I thought you were omnipotent! Never would have imagined that you could be so useless as to not even dare examine."

"Your method of examination is too... shocking!" Rong Jing struggled to say the words.

Yun Qianyue huffed; her actions in ancient times were indeed quite shocking. But now, other than making corpses speak, there was no other way forward. So, she decided to go ahead with it regardless. With pursed lips, she raised her sword again and a person was gutted open once more as Yun Qianyue began examining the insides of this new corpse.

This time, even Mo Li could not help but want to vomit; he turned his back and did not dare look at Yun Qianyue either.

Yun Qianyue examined for a while before turning towards another person. Before she got near the other one, Rong Jing's voice sounded again, whispering softly, "Can you just leave me alone Alright"

Yun Qianyue scoffed but ignored him and continued with her actions.

Rong Jing turned back to look at Yun Qianyue and saw that she indeed raised her sword again, with a determined expression to continue the disembowelment. His face twitched, mouth agape, as he pressed his hand against his forehead and waited quietly for a moment. After some time, unable to bear it any longer, he turned around once more, looking towards the sky. Even the clear blue skies could not ease his stomach. He remained silent for a while, listening to the sound of swords slicing through flesh that was piercing to the ears. With a tone of suppressed patience, he said to Yun Qianyue, "Then hurry up..."

Yun Qianyue as if deaf to his words, began examining again carefully.

This time Mo Li couldn't bear it either and turned away to vomit.

Yun Qianyue's face remained unchanged. She examined the corpses with meticulous care for a while longer and then stopped moving altogether, her eyes fixated on the heart of one of the dead bodies lying on the ground.

Rong Jing and Mo Li didn’t hear any further action from her. After some time, they both slowly turned around to look at her. They noticed that Yun Qianyue had dissected three unusual individuals: one was the leader who shot arrows at their carriage earlier; another was the head of the second wave of shooters; the last one was the only person on this battlefield to wield a left-handed sword, as he died still clutching it in his left hand.

Rong Jing began examining these three individuals with earnestness. His gaze swept across their abdomens and lingered on the red dot marking each heart area. He narrowed his eyes slightly, a shadow of dark thoughts gathering in his eyes.

Mo Li forced himself to suppress his stomach's turmoil and examined carefully too. Initially puzzled, then amazed, he looked at Yun Qianyue with disbelief. His face paled as he turned to look at her.

"Indeed, the dead speak the truth!" Yun Qianyue sneered coldly while using a sword to pry open their entrails and intestines. She naturally didn't intend to disembowel everyone; these three corpses were proof enough.

Rong Jing looked at what Yun Qianyue's sword was prying out, but this time he did not feel nauseated instead his gaze was cold and indifferent.

Mo Li remained silent. Yun Qianyue also didn't speak anymore; she continued examining the guts with her sword. She thought to herself that in just over a month since coming here, she could gain such familiarity with this world’s past and present circumstances as well as its myriad matters because of being forced by Rong Jing to read those books while at his study room in the Prince's Manor; also thanks to the memories about these books stored in her brain. Otherwise, even if she dissected the corpses, she would not have found any evidence.

Most of the undigested things were ordinary items, indicating that these dead soldiers’ diets and clothing had been meticulously regulated during their training. The only peculiar thing was a tiny blood-colored worm in each heart region. One couldn't detect anything unusual from the outside; even if she hadn't killed the sole survivor saved by Rong Jing earlier, relying on hypnotism to extract information would still yield nothing useful because these people were controlled entirely by a spell.

This kind of spell originated from Southern Frontier.

It was rumored to be an unspoken secret among the royal family there, known as "Soul Departure". These soldiers were no longer human but true killing machines; they had lost their minds and senses under control, like puppets devoid of will.

But these hundred people couldn't all have been puppets. Among them, only three individuals were half-puppets, those who Yun Qianyue dissected now.

This spell was one of the world's top three forbidden spells. Its power did not merely lie in controlling its victims' minds and using them to harm others; it allowed the worms inside a victim’s body to continue living even after death for up to three days before regenerating if their bodies weren’t cremated promptly, allowing the caster to control and manipulate them once more. Thus, this spell was also called "Living Zombie" due to its ability to resurrect the dead.

Therefore, the person behind these soldiers today must have had ties to Southern Frontier's royal family. Otherwise, such a closely guarded secret would not be so commonly used by others.

When she read about this spell in one of those books earlier, she doubted if such a miraculous and ruthless magic really existed; little did she know that it was already happening now before her eyes.

The spell had another remarkable feature: it could manipulate its victims from within a hundred miles. Therefore, the person controlling these soldiers when they ambushed them must have been within this distance range, meaning he was likely somewhere in or around the capital city. Alternatively, it might be someone else who fired the weapon just moments ago.

Yun Qianyue narrowed her eyes and stared coldly at that tiny blood worm. That person better hope they could hide well; once she discovered them, she would make them suffer terribly for using such a spell to harm others. The Southern Frontier royal family's name was also tarnished by this act of inhumanity. She thought someone should step forward to explain everything.

Just then, hoofbeats echoed from the far end of the long street, though only one horse and rider, their movements were quite noticeable.

Hearing these familiar hoofbeats, Yun Qianyue knew without turning around that Ye Qingran was here.

Ye Qingran seemed to be in a hurry. Even from afar, she could hear the crisp sound of his whip cracking against the horse's body. In no time, he drew near and reined in his horse, stunned by what he saw before him.

Hundreds of dead bodies lay sprawled out grotesquely on the ground; three had their guts hanging out from being disemboweled, a sight too gruesome to look at. Yun Qianyue was crouched among them, using her sword to pry open entrails and intestines. Rong Jing and Mo Li stood some distance away from the corpses, faces grim. The trio seemed not to notice his arrival; none turned their gaze towards him. Not far off lay Rong Jing’s carriage with its curtains pierced by countless arrows except for the intact fragrant wood frame that couldn’t show any gaps, indicating how intense the ambush was and how deadly it would have been if they had acted a moment later.

Ye Qingran's gaze fixed on Yun Qianyue. Seeing her safe, he breathed a sigh of relief but quickly turned away after glancing around, noticing that she seemed not to see him arrive and was engrossed in examining the disemboweled corpses. He looked puzzled for a while then threw off his reins and dismounted, walking over beside Yun Qianyue as he asked, "Little girl, what are you doing"

"I'm conducting research!" Yun Qianyue replied with four words and praised Ye Qingran's unchanging expression appreciatively: "Impressive! Unflappable composure. Much better than those two empty-stomached pukers."

Hearing this, Rong Jing’s shoulders twitched violently while Mo Li trembled slightly.

"Research What kind of research" Ye Qingran glanced at Rong Jing and Mo Li curiously before asking again.

“I’m checking what they ate and drank. I want to see if their blood matches the soil’s composition in any particular region, where they usually live and so on. Lots of things can be figured out. It's useful for finding evidence who wants me dead.” Yun Qianyue repeated verbatim what she had told Rong Jing earlier.

"So that's how it is! What have you found out Do I need to help you gut these people" Night Qingran glanced at the intestines and other filth spilling from the gutted bodies, asking with interest.

Mou Li inwardly cringed, thinking that Young Nobleman R yan's nickname of 'Little Devil' was well-deserved. His inner strength matched his lady's.

"You're too late. I've already found evidence!" At this moment, Cloud Qianyue had to admire Night Qingran’s strength. When she first dissected a corpse back then, it took her three days of mental fortification. Later on, when handling the knife, her hands and legs would tremble; she even vomited while cutting open the body and couldn't eat anything for three days afterward until she could finally face the sight without flinching or vomiting. She had to admit that in this aspect, she was inferior to Night Qingran. She used the tip of her sword to pick up the blood-red bug and show it to him: "Here you go, is this what you're looking for"

Upon seeing the insect, Night Qingran's expression instantly changed.

"Looks like you do know," Cloud Qianyue smiled as she carefully put the insect back in place. This was evidence and couldn't be destroyed.

Night Qingran’s face suddenly turned extremely ugly as he stared fiercely at the bug, shouting angrily, "Losing one's soul technique! So it was someone from Southern Yi causing trouble. How dare they assassinate you broad daylight in the capital They’re asking for death!"

"Indeed, they are. That’s why they're all dead. Not a single one escaped," Cloud Qianyue said.

Upon hearing this, Night Qingran turned his gaze back to her and saw the bloodstains on her arm. Shocked, he asked urgently, "Little girl, you’re injured"

"Minor injury, don’t worry!" Cloud Qianyue shook her head.

Seeing that half of her sleeve was soaked in blood, Night Qingran thought it likely wasn't a minor wound. However, he didn't press further but angrily told Rong Jing beside them, "Weakling, you're very capable Yet you let this little girl get injured How did you take care of her"

Rong Jing's expression had already returned to calm as he said coldly to Night Qingran, "She got injured trying to block an assassin for me. It’s not my fault but that of the person from the first beauty family in Southern Yi who is too powerful. The losing one's soul technique and Three Leaf Fragrant are no ordinary techniques."

"So she got injured protecting you" Night Qingran suddenly felt uncomfortable upon seeing Cloud Qianyue’s face without any rebuttal, feeling indescribable emotions. Suppressing his unease, he angrily said to Rong Jing, "She isn't my first beauty from Southern Yi; weakling, be careful with your words."

"Indeed, we haven’t married yet! She's not yours now. But she might be in the future." Rong Jing replied.

Night Qingran glared at him angrily.

Before he could finish his sentence, hooves were heard approaching from the end of the long street. This time there seemed to be several dozen horses with their hooves thudding rapidly as if they were in a hurry; behind them was a squad of foot soldiers with chaotic footsteps and heavy breathing.

Cloud Qianyue turned her head, seeing two men in official robes leading the group, both around forty years old—one plump and one thin. The slightly plumper man wore the uniform of the capital’s government office while the thinner one was wearing that of a city guard, making him the Commander of Jingzhao County.

"Wang Hao, Li Guan, we pay our respects to... Young Nobleman R yan and Prince Regent J ing," said the two men as they came closer. They almost fell off their horses in shock at what they saw on the ground, trembling with fear before them; such a gruesome sight directly impacted their minds.

The soldiers following behind also tumbled off their horses in panic; thudding sounds filled the air. The foot soldiers who weren’t riding horses likewise had weak legs after seeing the scene and dared not look again. Most of them were pale-faced.

"You’re in charge of the capital’s security, yet this daylight murder happens on the streets! How can you allow such a thing Prince R yan thinks that you don't want your heads anymore," Night Qingran stopped speaking, glaring angrily at the two kneeling before him.

The two men were terrified and tried to explain their situation.

"Save your explanations for the emperor! Young Nobleman J ing doesn’t want to hear them now. Anyone who dares speak will suffer the same fate as those on the ground," Rong Jing calmly said, though his voice carried an imposing mountain-like aura.

The two men instantly fell silent and only trembled in fear on the ground.

Glancing at Rong Jing, Night Qingran turned to Cloud Qianyue and asked, "Little girl, what do you want"

What did she want Cloud Qianyue thought quickly. This place was a secluded route from the palace to her mansion but also a must-pass area for patrols. It was noon, yet no patrol officers were seen. A hundred assassins appeared out of nowhere and carried out their attack silently. If such incidents could happen freely in the capital during daylight hours with consecutive attacks by a hundred elite soldiers, and if Jingzhao County's guards and officials from the government office didn’t appear until summoned by Xian Ge, then the capital would be like an open field for criminals to violate without any preventive measures or precautions. If those guarding the imperial city were such incompetent people, the old emperor wouldn't have been able to sit on his throne all these years. She couldn't believe that someone in court intentionally allowed this to happen and planned to kill Rong Jing and her.

With this thought in mind, she coldly said, "Investigate! Give me a satisfactory explanation! If you don’t find who ordered it, I won’t rest until they are punished. Also, considering the Southern Yi tribal leader was banned by Emperor Chengzu a hundred years ago from using that technique and eradicating all insects capable of performing this spell, shouldn't there be an explanation for why such black magic has come to the capital"

"Indeed, this matter must be thoroughly investigated," Night Qingran nodded.

Cloud Qianyue threw her sword and stood up. "Alright then, leave it to you. The Southern Yi tribe should also give an account within three days. These bodies can't stay more than three days, they should all be cremated by then or else you know the consequences."

"Understood!" Night Qingran nodded heavily.

Yun Qianyue had wanted to say more, but seeing Ye Qian’s solemn expression and thinking of the First Beauty of Nanjiang who was in love with him, she swallowed her words and said, "Then I will return to my residence to recuperate."

"Alright! I’ll report this matter to Uncle Emperor shortly. I’ll make sure he thoroughly investigates it and makes Nanjiang King give an explanation," Ye Qian replied.

"I believe in you!" Yun Qianyue smiled. Finishing her words, she didn’t want to stay any longer and looked at the carriage that was now covered with arrows like a hedgehog. She definitely couldn’t ride it anymore. However, this place wasn’t far from Cloud Shallow Moon Manor so walking back would be fine. Not wanting to say anything more, she turned around.

"Little brat, ride my horse!" Ye Qian held Yun Qianyue.

"No need!" Yun Qianyue waved her hand; all she wanted was to walk.

Ye Qian didn’t insist but instead turned his gaze towards Rong Jing.

Rong Jing gave a cold glance at the dead bodies that had been gutted and at Chief Magistrate Jinzhao and the men from the Imperial Capital Prefecture. He then glanced meaningfully at Ye Qian before silently following Yun Qianyue as she walked off.

Mò Lí and Xiang Ge immediately followed behind the two of them. After seeing what had just happened, they felt even more pressure on their shoulders because their lord didn’t have any martial arts skills. They couldn’t let their guard down at all moving forward.

When Rong Jing and Yun Qianyue’s figures disappeared from the end of the street, Ye Qian finally turned his gaze away with a "wah" sound as he vomited up everything inside him until he felt like he was going to faint. He had just endured it until now but who knew how long ago he wanted to vomit However, not wanting to lose face in front of Yun Qianyue and Rong Jing, he forced himself to endure.

Officials such as Wang Da and Li Da all looked at Ye Qian with pale faces. They didn’t vomit because they weren’t stronger than him or Rong Jing mentally; it was just that the situation today was too serious. They were afraid of losing their heads and feared for their lives so much so that how could they throw up

After Ye Qian finished vomiting, feeling empty in his stomach with nothing else to vomit out, he used a handkerchief to wipe away the saliva at the corners of his mouth. He threw it away mercilessly and muttered, "I’ve finally had enough of that little brat! She’s not human. That damned Rong Jing, what was that look in his eyes"

No one responded; they just looked at him.

"You, report to the Crown Prince Manor and inform His Highness Crown Prince to come here as soon as possible. You, go to Chancellor’s Manor and tell Chancellor about this incident. You, go to Xiaoqin Prince’s Manor and have Xiaoqin Prince come over and take a look at it. You, go to Great General’s Manor…" Ye Qian suddenly stopped and gave an order in a vague manner instead. He thought that since he had to suffer like this, everyone should suffer with him. If they wanted to vomit, then let them all throw up together!

"Little… little prince, I don’t think it’s appropriate…" Wang Da stuttered out weakly as his words were slurred and incomprehensible.

"What isn’t proper Do you think it will be better if you commit suicide to apologize" Ye Qian looked coldly at Wang Da. "The incident today is the fault of Chief Magistrate Jinzhao and Imperial Capital Prefecture. I’ve come here but haven’t seen any of you. Have you gone for a drink or something If anything happens to either Lord Shiji or Miss Yun Qianyue, how many heads will you have to offer"

Wang Da immediately shut up and didn’t dare say another word.

"Quickly go!" Ye Qian barked coldly.

Wang Da and Li Da glanced at each other but before they could give orders to their servants, the soldiers behind them were forced by the pressure from Ye Qian and rose up obediently, running away very quickly. Within an instant, all hundred plus of them had left.

Ye Qian turned around and waved his hand again. "Come here!"

"Little Prince!" A guard floated down.

"Return to my residence immediately and inform both Father and Grandfather about this incident. Tell them they have to quickly enter the palace. Ideally, tell Uncle Emperor to send a secret memorial to Nanjiang so that Nanjiang King can come personally to explain within three days," Ye Qian ordered.

"Yes!" The guard retreated after receiving orders.

Ye Qian thought that he would have to enter the palace as well, but not now. He wanted to wait here and see what happened when everyone arrived. Then he could watch them throw up until they were satisfied. Especially those like Night Tianqiong who often impeached him and Yun Qianyue for being without propriety and lawless. Also those old fuddy-duddies from the Astronomical Bureau and Censorate who had a belly full of poetry, rites, and moral teachings. He hadn’t been in Jingcheng for seven years and now that he was back, everyone in court had become even worse behaved. Today was his chance to clean things up. When these people saw what happened today and threw up everything inside them, he would feel better before seeing who dared manipulate such a brazen assassination.
